What is your PostgreSQL centered product?
Our product is pgEdge Distributed PostgreSQL, a fully distributed implementation of Postgres available as a fully managed cloud service called pgEdge Cloud, or as self-hosted and self-managed software called pgEdge Platform. pgEdge makes use of multi-master asynchronous logical replication with configurable conflict resolution and conflict avoidance to deliver low data latency, ultra-high availability and data residency support for globally distributed applications.
pgEdge Distributed PostgreSQL is fully based on standard Postgres, and is fully open, with the source code available under a community license.
Which interesting things should PGConf.EU attendees expect at your booth?
PGConf.EU attendees stopping by our booth will be able to see demonstrations of both pgEdge Cloud and pgEdge Platform in action, demonstrating how our fully distributed Postgres implementation delivers low latency and ultra-high availability. We will also be demonstrating how easy it is to deploy a managed cluster of pgEdge distributed Postgres nodes using pgEdge Cloud.
What makes your company a great place to work?
What makes pgEdge a great place to work are the fantastic folk on the pgEdge team, who are not only smart and highly motivated, but also kind and thoughtful human beings. We are a mission-driven and values-driven company, encapsulated in our "EPIC3" values of empathy, passion, integrity, curiosity and customer-centeredness. In addition we are a remote-first globally distributed company tapping into exceptional Postgres talent from around the world.
What feature in the last PostgreSQL version benefits your company most?
We are big fans of the improvements to logical replication in Postgres 17. pgEdge support for PostgreSQL 17 makes it available as part of a responsive multi-master cluster that offers enhanced replication capabilities like DDL replication, conflict management, conflict avoidance, and so much more.
Which of your company's contributions to the PostgreSQL Project (code/community/conference) are you most proud of?
As pgEdge we've made our Spock extension for asynchronous logical replication available to the community, and we are contributing a number of core Postgres enhancements that support multi-master logical replication. However what we are most proud of are the contributions by the staff of the Postgres businesses we have founded and run over the past several decades, including EDB, OpenSCG (acquired by AWS), and now pgEdge.
