Presenting a lightning talk at PGConf.EU in Athens, Greece

The Lightning Talk session is the final session of PGConf.EU.

It includes a series of short, 5-minute talks that are submitted onsite by conference attendees and selected during the conference.

We invite conference attendees to submit their proposals and strongly encourage those who have never presented at PGConf.EU to participate, so that we have some new voices this year.

Submitting Your Talk

Normally, we invite attendees to write their name and talk title on a board, and the first 12 people to do so are selected as lightning speakers.

This year, however, we’re trying something different. To encourage new submissions we changed the process so that you can submit your talks more privately.

There will be a box near the registration desk where you can drop a card with your proposal. The cards and pens will be provided.

The box for proposals will be available at the reception desk from Wednesday morning until 11:50 on Thursday.

The programme committee will then select 12 cards at random and will notify you via email if you will be presenting.

Talk Selection

The programme committee reserves the right to discard talks that appear to be sales pitches or do not conform to the Code of Conduct. Additionally, if more than 12 submissions are received, the committee will select proposals to ensure that a few new speakers are included in the lineup.

Sending Slides

If your talk is selected, you will be informed via email by 16:00 on Thursday.

You will need to email your slides to lt@pgconf.eu in PDF format no later than 10:30 on Friday.

Note that we will not allow switching laptops for lightning talks. If you don’t send your slides on time, we won’t be able to include them in the deck and you’ll have to present without them!
